Located in southern Sacramento County, the district covers 320 square miles, which is one-third of the county. For the 2002-03 school year, the district will serve more than 52,500 students and expects to reach 80,000 students by 2010. More than 60 percent of the district's students are on a four-track year-round schedule and attend school for three months and are off for a month. The district serves a diverse student population and students speak more than 80 languages.
